FAQ’s
We have medicine on board, but it is usually best taken in advance if you are worried about being sick – it is easier to prevent versus treat. We like the non-drowsy version of Bonine. If this medicine still makes you really sleepy, we suggest taking it the night before as you go to sleep. It lasts 24 hours but the sleepy effect will wear off with time and still help you prevent seasickness.
What if I get sea sick?
Keep shoes and other items off the floor and stowed away in the rear cabin so nobody trips or loses their belongings. Also, leave the sailing to us! Handling the ropes, sails, and other equipment requires experience and can be dangerous.
What are the safety guidelines?
Yes, we always have more life jackets than people on the boat and exceed coast guard regulations.
Do you have life jackets?
Yes, we generally eat at Columbia Yacht Club prior to taking off from the dock. While underway, we will have a variety of drinks for you. Login to see the yacht club menu and make your dinner request.
Will there be food & drinks?
Yes, there are 2 bathrooms on board. However, boat plumbing is finicky, so we ask that you use minimal toilet paper and flush properly. We will explain more on board. Just know that if you break the toilet, you walk the plank.
Is there a bathroom on board?
Can I charter The Bullship?
No.
Bullship is a Bénéteau Oceanis 473 sailboat. It is 47 feet long, weighs 29,000 lbs and has a 62 foot mast.
What kind of boat is The Bullship?
Yes. Above deck you can sit in the cockpit, where the sailing action takes place, or on the bow (the front of the boat) in one of our soft folding chairs. Below deck, there is a galley with some seating as well in case of unexpected weather.
Is there space to sit?
It’s best to travel light. Bring only your essentials and a jacket. We ask that you please store all your belongings in the aft (rear) cabin while we are underway. Having a pocket if you’d like to hold onto your phone is great. We have everything else for a good sail!
What should I bring?
Storage on the boat is limited, so try not to bring anything you don’t need. We are fully stocked with snacks, drinks and other supplies to minimize the need to transport things to and from the boat.
What shouldn’t I bring?
What should I wear?
Both Columbia Yacht Club and The Bullship are very casual. We like to dress comfortably. Please wear flat shoes, no heels. You do not have to take your shoes off, but if you would like to, please store them in the cabin below so no one trips over them.
It depends on the wind and weather, but we like to go fast! Sometimes the boat leans very far to the side at higher speeds, and it can get a little choppy if there are waves. Don’t worry, this is all normal sailing stuff.
